Beijing boasts a great number of well known universities, research institites, innovative enterprises and enormous technology transfer market potential. It acts as a leading and pioneer role in this respect and in 2010 alone, the Beijing Technology market transaction volume reached 157.9 billion Rmb with more than 41 countries trading with China.

Since 2010 the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) and Beijing Municipal Government have taken steps to support international technology transfer focussed on Beijing. They have sponsored international technology transfer events such as the UK-China Agri-tech Innovation Forum, they launched the International Technology Transfer Network (ITTN), held the UK-China Low Carbon Technology Partnering Forum and the first Beijing International Technology Transfer Conference in 2011 (AUTM-Asia 2011) and founded the China-Italy Technology Transfer Centre.

MoST and Beijing Municipal Government are committed to building up a platform for international cooperation in international tech transfer and have now decided to establish a Technology Transfer Business Centre in the heart of the capital’s thriving technology zone in ‘Zhong guan cun’.  The Building will act as a bridge connecting overseas universities, research centres, science parks, competitive clusters, government organizations and SMEs, with the Chinese technology transfer market.  This 'cluster' will provide international businesses with a base in the innovation hub of Beijing and will facilitate easy access to the Chinese market and Chinese partners.  At the same time it will form a focal point that will draw in Chinese Companies from all over China who are interested in seeking out new technology or international partners.

Required Action
